30 minutes earlier to bed - that's healthy

A stressful workday lies behind most employees after 6 or 7 pm. Perhaps the journey home was also stressful for you – by car where you got into a traffic jam or it was once again very crowded on the train. When you finally get home, it’s family time – actually. But for some, work doesn’t stop there. In the modern working world, many employees have access to their company email account at home. If that’s the case for you, you’ll probably sit down in front of your PC after dinner with the family. As a matter of routine, you will then open the company email account again. After all, you want to check whether a certain customer or supplier has replied after work. This way you know what you have to do the next day – answer the customer or supplier, confirm an order or place an order. It’s unlikely that you’ll sit down at your PC as soon as you get home.

If you don’t sit in front of the PC right after dinner, you might take a shower first after dinner. And after that you sit in front of the TV with your wife, girlfriend or children and watch a movie or a program. When the children have to go to bed, you put them to bed together with your partner. Afterwards you go to the PC to check your email. Actually, it would be long time for you to go to bed, because you have to get up again the next morning. Your partner has already slipped into her nightclothes and is waiting for you in the bedroom. But first you check your email extensively, delete spams and answer one or the other email. In the meantime, your partner has gotten out of bed and is urging you to finally get into bed. You put her off and continue to take care of your emails. At the same time you have yawned a few times – so you are tired!

That it would be better if you stop checking your emails 30 minutes earlier than you normally do, is something you should get into the habit of doing. Because in this case you have 30 minutes more in which you can relax before falling asleep. And stopping 30 minutes earlier to check and edit email also means 30 minutes longer sheep. – That’s healthy!
