In this day and age, we are very often on autopilot and hardly notice what is happening around us. This is a pity, because we would be much more satisfied with our everyday life if we could see how wonderful the world around us can be. Let me tell you a little story:
A man finally got the job that would bring him closer to his dream job. It brought him a lot of money, however, it required a lot of work. For this reason, every day for the first 6 months, during his break, he took his lunch, along with his tablet and briefcase, outside to the park. His walk was fast, his expression very hard, because he had a lot to do. He wolfed down his food while making calculations with concentration. He was sure that this would bring him a little closer to his dream job. One day his head was so full that when he took out his food in the park, he realized that he had forgotten his work utensils. He got angry, but didn’t have time to go all the way again. So he had no choice but to eat his food and go back to the office. While eating he noticed the birds chirping in the huge trees. A smile spread across his face. He never noticed before how beautiful the park was. He took a deep breath of the fresh air as a balmy breeze blew lightly through his hair. He closed his eyes and noticed how his shoulders dropped and he relaxed. Forgetting his work for a moment, he enjoyed the peace that settled inside him. He still managed to do his work in the office and even a little more, as his batteries were recharged.
This story is so simple and yet so significant. We need to break out of our heads sometimes and invite in the beauty around us. Nature gives us an incredible amount of power. This has been proven in many studies. Just a few minutes a day living in the moment can be very meditative and liberating. This is how we recharge our batteries. Don’t forget: A Ferrari can be so fast and drive so far. You must not forget to refuel it, because otherwise it will come to a standstill.
